4th Marina G. Dayrit Lecture Series 2017: The Data Privacy Act and its Implications in Libraries

The 4th Marina G. Dayrit Lecture Series was held in the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay City, Metro Manila, last September 15, 2017. This coincided with the 38th Manila International Book Fair (MIBF).


Mr. Mel Alipoon was the master of ceremonies for this event. The opening ceremonies was led by Claire F. Pascua, PAARL Executive Board member. This was followed by the opening remarks by Mr. Chito N. Angeles, PAARL Vice-President and Conference Chair, while PAARL Auditor, Dr. Fernan R. Dizon, introduced the resource speaker.

The resource speaker for this lecture series was Atty. Joseph Dexter M. Feliciano. He is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Thinc Office Corp.¬† Atty. Feliciano made a presentation on the topic: “Data Privacy in the Age of the Internet and its Implications in Libraries.” His lecture aimed to inform and to increase the awareness of all the participants about the significance of data privacy, especially its implications to library operations and management.

Atty. Feliciano also conducted a product demonstration of My Legal Whiz. My Legal Whiz is a pioneering legal intelligence and research assistance platform used  by libraries, private and government institutions like the BSP, SEC, DTI, corporations, and law firms, etc.. There was a brief open forum after the product presentation. The event closed with a brief closing remarks from Dr. Dizon.
